The fundamental purpose of the position is to ensure that the operation maintains accurate and professional financial and stock records. The Finance & Operational Manager is responsible for tracking cash flow, financial planning and analysing the company’s financial and operational strengths and weaknesses, and proposing strategic directions.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the financial operations of an organization.
  • Advise on investment plans, monitor the company’s finances and produce financial reports.
  • Work closely with management to develop and implement strategies and plans to achieve the company’s long-term objectives.
  • Ensure statutory reporting and tax compliance.
  • Monitor and report on the company trading and cash positions
  • Overseeing the logistics involved in the business and general guidance on day-to-day operational activities. Our operational and reporting deadlines for the finance department are as follows:
  • Daily:
  • Stock in all locations
  • Sales in all locations
  • Credit control across all locations
  • Weekly :
  • Reconciled reports to be circulated to suppliers.
  • Provide weekly sales data for weekly sales report (total sales by product and channel, week, mtd and ytd)
  • Reconciled stock position (opening stock + purchases-sales-damages)
  • Reconciled Working capital position including Customer and Supplier Ageing report
  • Cash recon prior to reissuance and restocking. 6. Initiating and tracking of supplier payments
  • Monthly
  • Management accounts by no later than the 15th of each month
  • 4th – Provide Monthly Sales Data for Monthly Sales Report (Total sales by product and channel, month and ytd)
  • 8th -Audited Stock Position
  • 8th – Customer and Supplier Ageing report
  • 8th -Cash Recon

Key Skills:

  • Strong financial acumen and the ability to analyze financial data to make informed decisions.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Agricultural Economics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a financial and operational management role, preferably in the farming or agricultural sector.
  • Knowledge of the agricultural industry and its regulatory environment.
  • Familiarity with agricultural practices, technologies, and sustainability measures is highly desirable.
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, CMA) is an advantage.
